A classic, delicious recipe for buttery, brown sugary blondies studded with chocolate chunks AND dark chocolate chips!
Stop your search. The only recipe you’ll ever need for simple, perfect Dark Chocolate Chunk Blondies is here.
It’s practically foolproof. Just a handful of ingredients, a bit of elbow grease to stir (or a stand or electric mixer if kitchen workouts aren’t your thing), and 30 minutes are all that stand between you and sinking your teeth into soft, thick, chewy blondies.
Blondies are the equally delicious counterpart to our signature brownies. That’s right, the divine cakey, chocolatey brownies that are infamous among our family and friends. We promise to share the recipe with you soon, but for now, we’re all about blondies.
Sweet with a hint of salty, these blondies are made from a solid, old-fashioned recipe that is quick and easy to prepare. Oh, and it’s time-tested, too. As in grandma-tested, mom-tested, us-tested. When three generations approve, you know they have to be good.
Blondies are all about contrasts in texture and flavor. A cracked, crinkly surface gives way to the dense, gooey, slightly underbaked center. Deep notes of molasses lend an almost nutty like flavor to the base, while tiny nuggets of kosher salt balance the rich chocolate pockets.
Are you drooling yet?
Irresistible as they are, we’ve never even bothered with another blondie recipe. What’s the point? We’d only be wasting time when we could be well on our way to devouring one a whole pan of these golden beauties.
Dibs on the four crispy corner pieces!
No gimmicks, no fluff, no frou-frou mix-ins, stuffings, frostings, or drizzles here. All that’s added to the buttery, brown sugary blondie dough is a combination of semisweet chocolate chunks and dark chocolate chips. It’s absolutely perfect.
However, if you’re so inclined to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to these blondies, they would be devilishly decadent served à la mode drizzled with caramel sauce or hot fudge.
Have you dropped everything to run into the kitchen and preheat your oven yet?
Dark Chocolate Chunk Blondies
- 2 cups brown sugar firmly packed
- ⅔ cup butter melted
- 2 eggs slightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks
- ⅓ cup dark chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or an electric handheld mixer, blend the brown sugar and butter on medium speed. Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing just until combined. Stir in half of the chocolate chunks and dark chocolate chips.
Spread evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle with the remaining chocolate chunks and chips, lightly pressing the pieces into the dough. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars. Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to one week.
